Infrastructure Officer, I 21
The Garnison Support Unit (GarnsE) currently consists of about 50 employees who work with long-term planning and development of the unit's operations in peace, crisis, and war. Among many other responsibilities, we handle production planning, war planning, as well as environmental and infrastructure issues.
The unit is under development, and new regiment areas are being projected both in Sollefteå and Östersund. We anticipate that the Swedish Armed Forces' planned growth and development in the coming years will provide us all with many new exciting challenges and opportunities.
We are now looking for an Infrastructure Officer to Sollefteå. If you want to be part of our development journey and put your own stamp on the role of infrastructure officer, then you are the right person for us.
Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for tasks related to infrastructure. This includes planning, implementation, follow-up, evaluation, and coordination of I 21's land area, facility, local, and construction activities in collaboration with the Local Planning Unit.
As an infrastructure officer, you will participate in the development work during I 21's establishment, particularly regarding the construction of two new barracks areas. Your tasks will also include preparing and compiling I 21's overall infrastructural needs and continuously following up on current matters through dialogue with I 21 Staff, Training Battalions, Västernorrland Group, Jämtland Group, Local Planning Unit, and in some cases, the Fortifications Agency (FortV).
Requirements
Qualifications
- Higher education in urban planning, real estate, and/or infrastructure, or several years of relevant work experience that the employer deems equivalent
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Driver's license minimum category B (Manual)
Meritorious
- Experience working within or in connection with the Swedish Armed Forces
- Experience in development work and project management
- Experience from working in an organization that places high demands on your security and confidentiality awareness
- Several years of experience working in a dynamic organization undergoing growth/development
- Knowledge of property law and environmental legislation

- Working hours: Mostly scheduled during weekdays, but scheduled work during other times may occur.
- The position includes 3 hours of physical training per week.

- Security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment according to the Security Protection Act.
- The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority.

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21, was re-established. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.
I 21 currently has operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Lower Norrland Garrison. In Sollefteå, there is the Regimental Staff (with personnel in both Sollefteå and Östersund) and the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion. In Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. In addition, there is the Garnison Support Unit, Defense Health, and Logistics Unit with operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.
At the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscript soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland.”
